Ingredients

  • 8 slices Sliced Bread

Batter

  • 2 large Eggs
  • cup Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
  • teaspoon All-Spice

Filling Ingredients

  • Sliced Strawberries
  • Nutella Spread
  • 1 8 oz Package of Cream Cheese
  • Sliced Almonds

Garnish

  • Extra Sugar & Cinnamon for Dusting

Instructions

Preparing The Bread And Filling

  • Cut off the crust.
Using a rolling pin or large glass, flatten all pieces of bread. Make sure to do a good job on the corners.
  • Add a small amount of cream cheese or Nutella on both sides of the bread, this will act as the glue after rolling it up.
Add cream cheese or Nutella to both ends of the flattened bread
  • Two Filling Options:
    1) Cream cheese with strawberries and sliced almonds
    2) Nutella with strawberries, with or without almonds
  • Next, roll up the bread into a log. Get a good seal. If you can add more cream cheese or Nutella to create a good seal.

  • At this point, you could pack everything up and do the cooking at a later date and time. When storing in the refrigerator, be sure to NOT cover as it will cause them to become soggy.
Or freeze them. Place them into an airtight container. Good for one month.

Cooking

  • In a bowl, add eggs and whip them adding a small amount of air. Then add cinnamon, vanilla, salt, all-spice, brown sugar, sugar and combine.
For an adult treat, add the liqueur Grand Marnier. Has alcohol, not kid-friendly.
    One to two Tablespoons
  • In a large skillet add butter and melt.
  • Cook the prepped pieces of bread in batches. Add the bread to the seasoned egg mixture right before cooking them.
If you soak the French toast roll-ups too long they will become unmanageable with an odd texture.
Cook until golden brown and delicious.

Garnish Finishing

  • In a small bowl, mix cinnamon and sugar for dusting. Two to three tbsps of cinnamon to one cup of sugar. Could add more cinnamon :)
  • Topping with whip cream never hurts.
