Candied Bacon Recipe | Plus Bacon Onion Rings

  • 2 Packages of Bacon
  • Vidalia onions Depends on how many you want to make
  • Maple Syrup
  • ½ cup of brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon of BBQ seasoning
  • Fresh Cracked Black Pepper


  • Layout bacon on a cookie sheet with a roasting rack on top.
  • Paint on the maple syrup with a pastry brush
  • Then sprinkle on the brown sugar. The smooth over the brown sugar with the pastry brush combining the maple syrup and brown sugar into one even layer. Next add the bbq seasonings, black pepper and any other seasonings you would like to add.

Bacon Onion Rings

  • Cut out the middle section of a large onion. Remove the middle core of the onion. Using sweet vidalia onions are suggested. Press out the onion layers, you will want to keep 2 layers connected per bacon onion ring.
  • Take strips of bacon and wrap around the onion. Make sure to not overwrap with bacon or the bacon will come too thick and slow down your cooking time.
  • Paint on maple syrup and sprinkle on your favorite seasons like more of the bbq seasoning.
  • Bake the candied bacon at 375 for around 20 minutes or until done to your liking. Once out of the oven be sure to flip over the bacon to avoid sticking.
  • Bake the Bacon onion rings at 375 for around 30 to 40 minutes or until done.
  • Pair with a dipping sauce like Sour cream and chive or ranch.
  • Enjoy
